Bowman nets 15 points, Moore adds 12 points

Box Score VESTAL, N.Y. – Junior guard Denai Bowman led a balanced attack with 15 points and senior guard Hayley Moore added 12 points, leading Binghamton (8-19, 4-13 AE) to a 60-49 win over New Hampshire (7-20, 4-12 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center. The victory, which came in the Bearcats' annual Senior Day Game, was their third victory in the past four contests.

Bowman, who ranks third in the America East with 14.3 points per game, went 5-for-9 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. She also added six rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Moore, who was one of three players honored during the pregame Senior Day Ceremony, went 4-of-7 from the field and drained three three-point field goals. She also dished out four assists.

In addition to Moore, the Bearcats honored fellow senior guard Hanna Strawn as well as Lizzy Spindler, who opted out of the 2020-21 and graduated last spring. Strawn, who has been out for the season with an injury, was inserted into the starting lineup and subbed out to an ovation from the crowd following the opening jump ball.

"I am really proud that I got to coach Hayley, Hanna and Lizzy and that we sent them off with a win today," head coach Bethann Shapiro Ord said. "We really played for each other today and made sure we played good team defense."

The victory overshadowed a game-high 26 points by Bella Stuart of New Hampshire. She went 10-for-15 from the field, swished a pair of three-point field goals and finished with the game highs in both blocks (two) and steals (seven).

Binghamton got the separation it needed in the opening 20 minutes, shooting 61.5 percent from the field (16-of-26) to take a 39-23 lead at the half. Although their shooting cooled off in the third period, the Bearcats maintained a 51-33 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth period, the Bearcats built their largest lead of the day at 56-33 on a three-pointer by Moore with 7:51 left in regulation. The Wildcats got to within 58-49 on a free throw by Stuart with 50 seconds remaining but junior forward Clare Traeger finished the game by sinking a pair of free throws with 19 seconds left on the clock.

Binghamton shot 46 percent for the game (23-for-50) and was 8-for-10 from the free throw line (.800).

Traeger finished with nine points and a game-high eight rebounds. Junior guard Cassidy Roberts added five assists and six rebounds. With the exception of Strawn, every Bearcat who played against the Wildcats got on the score sheet.

With one game left to go in the regular season, the Bearcats can be seeded anywhere from No. 6 to No. 8 in the upcoming America East Tournament. They host UMBC on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
