Women’s lacrosse to host Lafayette Wednesday

Opening draw set for 4 p.m. at Bearcats Sports Complex

VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton women's lacrosse kicks off a three-game home stretch Wednesday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The Bearcats (1-3) will take on Lafayette (1-1), beginning at 4 p.m.

Notes
  • BU is spearheaded by two underclassmen offensively in Madison Murphy and Abigail Carroll. The duo has eight goals apiece, comprising over 50% of the team's finishes.
  • Murphy has come on strong of late, as she contributed a hat trick against Mount St. Mary's Saturday.
  • Olivia Muscolino, Abby Carroll, Hayley Weltner, and Emily Masera got on the scoresheet with a goal apiece against the Mountaineers.
  • Binghamton has out-battled opponents for ground balls this season, with an 81-67 mark in four games. Emily Manning (10), Hayley Weltner (nine), Paige Alletzhauser (eight) and Kelly Quinn (eight) lead the Bearcats in that category.
  • Sofia Afkham and Weltner have combined to earn 26 of Binghamton's 42 draw controls. Afkham had a season-high eight draw controls against Colgate on February 16.
Scouting the Leopards
  • Lafayette enters play at 1-1 on the season.
  • The Leopards are coming off a 11-9 win over La Salle on February 26. Their lone loss came at Drexel 16-4.
  • Lafayette's leading scorer is Olivia Cunningham, who has five goals on the campaign. Junior attacker Sarah Bennett has four assists to lead the visitors.
  • Goalie Lexie Coldiron shined against La Salle, making 14 saves and giving up just nine goals. She is in her second season with Lafayette and is in her first season as a starter.
