Women’s lacrosse to open AE play at Albany Saturday

Bearcats went 5-4 in non-conference action, have won four of last five

Binghamton women's lacrosse kicks off America East play Saturday at Albany, beginning at 4 p.m. at John Fallon Field. The Bearcats have won four of their last five games and look to carry momentum into their conference slate.

Notes
  • In a 16-11 win over Quinnipiac, junior Kenna Newman led a balanced attack, scoring four goals and adding two assists. She has 11 goals and 11 assists in her last six games.
  • Marisa Tancredi added a hat trick for BU. The freshman has come on strong of late, notching at least a point in her last three contests.
  • Sofia Afkham, the America East's leader in draw controls, added five more to her season total Saturday. She has 51 on the year and has more than double her output from 2021.
  • The Bearcats continue to have contributions by a number of different players offensively. They have seven players with 10 or more goals on the year. Binghamton is the only team in the American East and one of 10 schools in the nation with that accomplishment, joining Michigan, Duke, Syracuse, North Carolina, Virginia, Navy, Virginia Tech, East Carolina, and Marquette.
  • Binghamton is averaging 16 goals per game in its last five games. BU's 5-4 record is the team's best start since 2014.
Scouting the Great Danes
  • Albany enters action at 2-5 on the year, after playing a rigorous non-conference schedule.
  • The Great Danes are coming off a 16-11 loss to No. 22 UConn Wednesday. A battle-tested team, UA has played the likes of No. 13 Stanford, No. 24 Drexel, and No. 22 UConn thus far.
  • Albany's leading scorer on the season is Sarah Falk, who is sporting 22 goals and seven assists. Katie Pascal has added 17 goals and 14 assists on the year.
  • The Great Danes are scoring an average of 14 goals per game while giving up an average 13.57 this season.
  • They are 11-4 against America East Conference opponents since 2019.
