Women’s lacrosse to host No. 5 Stony Brook Tuesday

Bearcats return to action against the SeaWolves beginning at 4 p.m.

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's lacrosse is back in action Tuesday afternoon, as the Bearcats host No. 5 Stony Brook in a midweek America East contest. BU is competing in its fourth conference contest of the season, and its penultimate home game.

Notes

  • The Bearcats are looking to bounce back after a close 11-9 loss to UMass Lowell last Saturday. Despite leading 4-3 after the first period, the visiting River Hawks outscored BU 8-5 the rest of the way.

  • Sidra Morchower had a strong game for Binghamton, netting a season-high three goals on just four shots. She now has six on the season.

  • Hayley Weltner added a spark on the draw, grabbing seven to up her season total to 37.

  • Binghamton's leading scorer is freshman standout Olivia Muscolino (23 goals). She is followed by the Bearcats' leader in points, Kenna Newman, who has 22 goals and 16 assists.

  • Freshman attacker Marisa Tancredi has come on as of late, scoring five goals at UMBC last week, and adding one against UMass Lowell over the weekend. The Manorville native earned America East Rookie of the Year after those performances and will look to continue her upward trend against Stony Brook.

Scouting the SeaWolves

  • Stony Brook comes to Vestal sporting a 10-2 record. The SeaWolves are coming off a dominant 16-1 win over UMass Lowell Saturday. They have defeated their last two opponents by a combined score of 36-7.

  • The SeaWolves are ranked No. 5 in the nation, and have wins over No. 11 Florida, No. 16 John Hopkins, and No. 10 Princeton.

  • Stony Brook's leading scorer is Ellie Masera, who has 44 goals on the season. She has added 11 assists and her 55 total points leads the team.

  • Kailyn Hart is a strong complement to Masera on offense. She has 37 goals and 14 assists this season. The junior has scored four or more goals in seven contests.

  • Stony Brook is 19-0 against America East opponents since 2019.
