Women’s lacrosse set to play Vermont Saturday

Bearcats fighting for America East playoff spot, close regular season against Catamounts

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's lacrosse will make the trip to Burlington to take on Vermont Saturday afternoon. This weekend's contest is the final game of the regular season, as BU competes for a spot in the America East playoffs.

Notes
  • BU enters Saturday's contest coming off a tight 15-14 loss to UNH. A comeback bid fell short, despite outscoring the Wildcats 8-5 in the second half.
  • Abigail Carroll continued her strong rookie campaign, pacing the Bearcat offense with four goals. Madison Murphy added her second hat trick of the season, as she put together a three-goal, one-assist performance.
  • The Bearcats dominated on the draw, grabbing 21 to UNH's 12. Sofia Afkham and Kristen Scheidel had six apiece.
  • Four Bearcats have 20 or more goals this season. Kenna Newman leads the way with 25. Freshmen Carroll and Olivia Muscolino have 24 apiece and Madison Murphy has 21.
  • Kelly Quinn and Paige Alletzhauser have led the defense with 12 and 11 caused turnovers respectively.
 
Scouting the Catamounts
  • The Catamounts come into Saturday's game with a 12-3 overall record and a 3-2 conference record.
  • They are coming off a 17-13 victory over Bryant last Saturday and have won four consecutive contests, outscoring opponents 61-33 in that span.
  • Junior attacker Ava Mastile is sporting 50 goals and 16 assists on the season. She has 19 goals over the past four games and is averaging 3.57 goals per contest overall.
  • Carolyn Carrera has a league-leading 41 caused turnovers. She had a season-high seven against Manhattan on March 14.
  • Vermont is 11-10 against America East opponents since 2019.

  • America East playoff fate is contingent on results Saturday. Albany has clinched the No. 1 seed and Vermont is locked in to the No. 2 seed. The Bearcats, New Hampshire, UMass Lowell and UMBC are competing for two available spots.
