WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Junior
Marty Dolan was the runner up in the men's 3,000 steeplechase (SC) and graduate student
Brittany Korsah was second in the women's triple jump, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The three-day meet, which was held at William & Mary, concluded on Sunday. In the final team standings, the Bearcat men were 17th out of 34 scoring teams at the IC4A meet while the women were 19th out of 36 scoring squads in the ECAC competition.
Dolan's 3,000 SC time of 8:58.21 broke the Binghamton program record of 9:01.08, which was set by Adam Quinn back in 2011. Korsah, meanwhile, recorded a distance of 41-4 ½ in the triple jump, which ranks third all-time in program history.
Korsah was part of a second school-record performance during the meet – by the 4x400 relay team. The Bearcat quartet, which also included graduate student
Nia Joyner, senior
Stephanie Cassens and freshman
Hillary Abankwa, clocked a time of 3:14.88 and placed third overall. That broke their previous record of 3:41,88, which they recorded at the Virginia Challenge last month.
Other top Binghamton finishers at the ECAC/IC4A meet included senior
Jake Restivo, who was sixth in the men's long jump (23-3) and freshman
Marcus Johnson, who was sixth in the men's 400 hurdles (54.72).
Up next for Binghamton is the NCAA East Regional Meet, which will be held at Indiana University May 26-28.
