Defending AE champion wins season-opening meet, breaks school record

VESTAL, N.Y. - Junior Brennan Delany has been named the America East Men's Field Athlete of the Week. It marks the first time in his career that he has earned the conference's weekly accolade.

Delany won the heptathlon at the season-opening Cornell/Greg Page Relays this past weekend. The reigning conference champion also broke the school record with a score of 5,614 points - which is nearly 500 points greater than Joe Miceli's 2016 mark of 5,162 points. His performance currently ranks 5th overall in the NCAA.

Binghamton is off until Jan. 17, when it heads back up to Cornell for the Upstate Challenge.
