Bearcats post eight individual winners at non-scoring indoor meet

ITHACA, N.Y. – Binghamton opened its indoor track & field season with eight individual first-place finishes and one winning relay, highlighting its performance at the Greg Page Relays this weekend at Barton Hall. The two-day meet, which did not include team scoring, concluded on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Joe Cardascia recorded a pair of victories at Cornell. He captured the men's 500 (1:05.08) and anchored the first-place 4x400 relay. That Bearcat quartet also included fellow senior Samson Joseph, junior Logan Hayes and freshman Vincent Mancini and clocked a time of 3:18.81.

The Bearcats swept both the men's and women's weight throw. Redshirt junior Brian Luciano took top honors in the men's event (65-4 ¼) while junior Deborah Estabine was victorious in the women's competition (57-8 ¼).

Sophomore Brennan Delany not only won the heptathlon but also set the Binghamton program record with 5,614 points. The previous mark of 5,162 points was set by Joe Miceli back in 2016,

Other individual winners on the men's side included graduate student Asa Friedrich in the 3,000 (8:45.59), freshman Owen Keating in the pole vault (15-9) as well as junior Putu Sutayasa in the long jump (23-9).

Joseph was the runner-up in the men's 60 (6.77) while Hayes was second in the 500 (1:06.12). Also placing second was Zakary Minutello in the 200 (23.08).

On the women's side, the other first-place finisher was junior Ashlyn Rattray in the 200 (25.60).

Second-place performances on the women's side included senior Alyssa Armitage in the pole vault (12-1 ¼) as well as the 4x400 relay team of sophomore Savanna Edwards, freshmen Gabrielle Rothstein and Saida Assabahi as well as junior Tatum Norris. That quartet finished with a time of 3:54.13.
