VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's lacrosse will take on Vermont in the America East semifinals at 6 p.m. Thursday at the University of Albany. BU is making its first conference playoff appearance since 2018. The winner of the contest will take on the winner of the other semifinal pitting the No. 1 Great Danes vs. No. 4 UMBC.

The Bearcats enter the postseason with all of the momentum, as they clinched a bid following Saturday's 11-10 OT win over Vermont. Sophomore Kristen Scheidel put away the game-winning goal with less than 30 seconds remaining in overtime.

Abigail Carroll leads the way with 26 goals this season. Kenna Newman (25), Olivia Muscolino (24) and Madison Murphy (22) round out the top four.

A two-time America East Defensive Player of the Week selection this season, junior goalie Emily Manning has been an important piece of the Bearcat defense. She has recorded 10 or more saves in six games this season, three of which occured in the last three games.

Nine Bearcats have scored 10 or more goals this season, and BU outranks its opponents in ground balls, draw controls and clears.
Scouting the Catamounts

Despite the loss Saturday, Vermont finished the regular season one win away from the most wins in program history. The Catamounts went 9-1 in non-conference play.

Ava Vasile has scored 53 goals on the season to lead the offense. She has scored three or more goals in all but one contest (two goals against No. 5 Stony Brook on Mar. 26).

Grace Giancola (28 goals), Taylor Mullen (27), Mackenzie Ballard (22) and Riley Halloran (21) all finished the regular season with more than 20 goals.

Defensively, Carolyn Carrera has 45 caused turnover in 15 games. She had four against the Bearcats Saturday.

Goalie Sophie McLaughlin has made 108 saves and is giving up less than 10 goals per game.
