VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton University athletics is beginning a $2 million wrestling fundraising campaign to create a spectacular "Center for Wrestling Excellence." Enhanced by a university matching gift, the facility will be built as an extension off the West Gymnasium and will double the square footage of the current wrestling training room.
The complex also will include a mezzanine level for strength and conditioning and a "Hall of Excellence" lobby to showcase individual and team historical achievements.
"This new center is a huge step forward for our program," head coach
Kyle Borshoff said. "The facility will have a dramatic, positive impact on our recruiting, as well as the overall representation of our program. Our athletes work as hard as any in the country, and now they will have a state-of-the-art facility that is among the best in the EIWA conference. When team members, recruits, alumni and friends of the program walk into this building, they will immediately understand the support that exists around Binghamton wrestling."
"The expansion of the wrestling facility is critical to the growth of the program," Interim Director of Athletics
Dennis Kalina said. "As we continue to challenge for champions, not only in the hyper-competitive EIWA, but nationally, our wrestling student-athletes need a facility that will meet their needs. This enhanced facility will put our current and future Bearcats in the best possible position to achieve success."
The campaign goal is to raise $2 million by June 30, 2023.
