ITHACA, N.Y. – Binghamton's track & field teams returned to action at the Cornell/Indoor Upstate Challenge on Saturday. Both the Bearcat men's and women's teams were second out of five teams at the meet, which marked the Bearcats' first competition in 2023. The host Big Red was first on both sides.
Binghamton swept both the men's and women's long jump events. Graduate student
Jake Restivo won the men's competition with a distance of 22-11 ¾ feet. Sophomore
Jenna Chan was the women's winner, with a distance of 18-10 ½.
The Bearcats other individual champion was junior
Marcus Johnson, who won the men's 200 with a time of 23.03.
Runner-up finishes on the men's side were turned in by freshman
Samson Joseph in the 400 (50.85) and senior
Nick Malfitano in the long jump (22-2 ½).
For the Bearcat women's team, meanwhile, second-place performances were recorded by senior
Sophia Morone in the 60 (7.84), sophomore
Jennifer Mui in the 3,000 (10:45.81) and sophomore
Lucciana Robertson in the high jump (5-5).
Up next for Binghamton is the River Hawk Invitational, which will be hosted by UMass Lowell and held at the New Balance Track in Boston next Friday-Saturday.
