VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton wrestling is tied for 40th as a team in WIN Magazine's 2023 preseason NCAA Division I national rankings, while junior
Brevin Cassella and redshirt seniors
Jacob Nolan and
Cory Day each earned a ranking within their weight class. The Bearcats picked up three Tournament Power Index (TPI) points in the ranking.
Nolan received the highest individual ranking of the trio. He is ranked No. 9 in the 184 lbs. weight class. Cassella and Day both are ranked No. 20 in their respective weight classes, with Cassella in for 165 lbs., and Day in as a Heavyweight.
All three wrestlers have already received preseason rankings from other media sources. They were each ranked in the Intermat Wrestling poll. Nolan was ranked No. 13, Cassella was No. 22, and Day was No. 25. Both Day and Nolan were also ranked in the FloWrestling preseason poll, with Nolan at No. 8 and Day at No. 23.
All three wrestlers qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2023. Nolan won his first two consolation matches at the event.
