Bearcats and Giants tip at 6:07 p.m. at Events Center

VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton men's basketball returns home to host Keystone College Sunday night. The teams will tip at 6:07 p.m. at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center.

The Bearcats (0-2) are coming off a tough two-game stretch against Power 5 opponents to open the season. After pushing Northwestern to the closing minute on Monday, BU ran out of steam in the second half Friday at Pitt, suffering an 89-60 loss after trailing by just eight at the break.

Freshman Evan Ashe led the Bearcats with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. He hit 3-of-5 three-pointers. Graduate guard Symir Torrence added 10 points, five assists and five rebounds. Senior forward Nehemiah Benson chipped in eight points and a team-high seven boards.

Keystone (0-1) is an NCAA Division III program located in La Plume, Pa., just northwest of Scranton. The game will be classified as an exhibition for the Giants. The team opened its season with a 86-61 at Wilkes on Thursday. They return seven players (but just one top-four scorer) from a team that reached the title game in the Colonial State Athletic Conference (CSAC) – one win shy of an NCAA berth.

Keystone went 14-14 (8-6 in CSAC). Among the Giants' roster are seven players from the state of Florida – representing half the team.

Separated by just 55 miles, it will be the first meeting between the two schools in 75 years. Back in BU's formative years as Triple Cities College, they faced Keystone twice in the 1948-49 season, posting wins of 82-63 and 63-55.
