Bearcats open 52-game slate at Houston on Feb. 16; First of 20 home games is March 12

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball has announced its 52-game spring schedule, which includes an opening month of road games but also 20 games at BU's premier home complex. which will again be the site of the America East Championship tournament. But before that, BU will face six teams who won 30 or games a year ago, highlighted by an encounter with Wake Forest, reigning College World Series team and 2023 national regular-season No. 1.

The Bearcats open their season with a three-game set at University of Houston on Feb. 16-18. The Big 12 member Cougars won 36 games last spring and have made 22 NCAA appearances. From there, BU returns to the East Coast for a familiar run of weekend matchups against teams from the ACC, Southern Conference and CAA. After a three-game set against 2022 NCAA tournament team UNC Greensboro, BU heads to Winston-Salem, N.C. for three games, opening with a March 1 test against an elite Demon Deacons program that went 54-12 last season. Five days later BU faces another ACC member in Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.

"The 2024 non-conference schedule has a nice blend of programs we've played in previous years with programs we've never played before," 32nd-year head coach Tim Sinicki said. "We can't wait to play a weekend series at Houston and Middle Tennessee State for the first time, and are looking forward to getting back to UNC Greensboro, the Wake Forest Tournament and VMI. My hope is that playing this type of competition early in the season will help prepare us for the challenges within the America East Conference."

Binghamton plays the first of 20 home games on March 12 when BU welcomes St. Bonaventure to the Bearcats Baseball Complex. From there, Binghamton turns its attention to the 24-game America East slate, which is comprised of eight three-game series'. The Bearcats have advanced to the America East finals in three of the last four years and will look to add to their haul of 11 combined regular-season and tournament titles since 2007.

Sprinkled in-between conference games will be matchups against traditional in-state foes with BU and Cornell playing three times (March 19, April 16, 30) and Canisius (March 26), Le Moyne (April 9) and Siena (April 23) also on the slate. Additionally, BU will face first-time opponent Middle Tennessee State six times in a pair of home-and-home series' (March 29-31, May 3-5) along with Valparaiso (March 3) and East Tennessee State (March 5).

The Bearcats play 15 of their final 25 games at home, where they will look to secure a high seed for the six-team America East Championship, hosted by BU on May 22-25. Binghamton returns 18 lettermen from a 2023 squad that reached the America East finals, falling just short of repeating as conference champions.
