Binghamton Division of Athletics to be honored at Rumble Ponies Game

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton Division of Athletics returns to Mirabito Stadium for Champions Night, an evening in which the AA Rumble Ponies baseball team will honor the Bearcats for their success during the 2024-25 academic year. Representing the Bearcats that night will be head coaches Tim Sinicki (baseball), Jess Bump (softball), Jerry Cummiskey (swimming & diving), Nick Zieziula (men's tennis) and Mike Thomson (track & field), each of whom will be recognized during a pre-game first pitch ceremony The Rumble Ponies then face the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 6:07 p.m.

"The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are proud to welcome coaches, administration, and student athletes to the ballpark on Thursday, August 14 for Champions Night," Rumble Ponies Director of Marketing and Promotions Eddie Saunders said. "Each year, we look forward to the opportunity to partner with Binghamton University and we are excited to have members of the community out at the ballpark including having ceremonial first pitches from the coaches who led their teams to recent conference titles this past academic year. Wear your green and head down to the ballpark. We can't wait to see you."

Sinicki, who was recently inducted into the Binghamton Baseball Shrine, led the Bearcats to their sixth America East title since 2009. Bump, who grew up in nearby Windsor and played for the Bearcats from 2011-14, guided the softball squad to its first-ever sweep of both the America East regular-season and tournament titles.

Cummiskey and Zieziula's teams won their second straight conference titles - men's swimming in the America East and men's tennis in the Northeast Conference (NEC). Thompson, meanwhile, headed up a Bearcats track & field program that posted Marcus Johnson as an All-American in the 400 hurdles.

"The annual tradition of the Bearcats at the ballpark with the Rumble Ponies has been a great way for Binghamton Athletics to celebrate our continued success as well as say "thank you" to the Binghamton community for their support of the Bearcats," Binghamton Bearcats' Manager of Game Day Experience Derrick Bradford said. "This year, we are excited to celebrate our 2024-25 success on the field, court, pool and track with our fans and community as #ONEBinghamton."
