VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's lacrosse begins the 2023 season against the reigning CAA champions on Saturday. It will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2011. The Bearcats were ranked fifth in the America East preseason poll.

- Binghamton returns all of their leading scorers from a season ago. Abigail Carroll, Olivia Muscolino, and Kenna Newman were tied with a team-high 26 goals last season, while Madison Murphy scored 25 goals.

Kristen Scheidel, Marisa Tancredi, and Hayley Weltner all scored more than 10 goals a season ago, and they will be key contributors for the Bearcats in 2023.

Defensively, Paige Alletzhauser, Cassidy Evans, and Jamie Golderman all played 16 games. Zoe Congdon and Tiana Vasquez will have increased roles in 2023.

Emily Manning started all 16 games in the cage last year. Manning save percentage of .404, which had her ranked top-50 in the nation last year.
Scouting the Dragons

Drexel won the 2022 CAA Championship with an 11-10 victory against Towson in overtime. Drexel lost to Stony Brook in the NCAA tournament last year.

Corinne Bednarik was second in the CAA in draw controls last season and seventh in assists. Bednarik scored 37 goals last season, which was tied for second on the team. Allison Drake scored 28 goals last year and Hayley Simpson added 21 goals. Last season, Belle McHugh led the Dragons with 27 caused turnovers, and she was second in ground balls with 41.
