Bearcats will face Norfolk State on Saturday and Sunday afternoons

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball (1-5) travels to Virginia to face Norfolk State (1-6) in a weekend series at Marty L. Miller Field. With rain in the forecast, the schedule has been altered. The teams will bypass Friday and play a doubleheader on Saturday and then finish with a single game at noon Sunday.

The Bearcats opened the season with four straight games against ACC foes and then split their last two games against Mt. St. Mary's (27-2 win) and Towson (10-1 loss). Binghamton is hitting .272 as a team and has an 8.10 pitching ERA.

Juniors Tommy Reifler (.421) and Isaiah Corry (.389) lead the team in hitting. Sophomores Devan Bade (7 RBI) and Nick Roselli (6 RBI) are 1-2 in runs driven in. Number two starter Gabe Driscoll has a 0.82 ERA in two starts.

Norfolk dropped a four-game season-opening set to Morehead State and then went 1-2 against Niagara last weekend. The Spartans went 15-32 last season (12-18 in the MEAC) but are just two years removed from an NCAA appearance (2021). After moving to the Northeast Conference for baseball this spring, Norfolk State was picked to finish ninth of 11 in their first season. Senior center fielder Dionte Brown leads the team with a .391 average.
