VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball (5-7) welcomes Lafayette (3-13) to the Bearcats Baseball Stadium Friday afternoon to begin a weekend series. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. Friday and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Due to cold temperatures expected on Sunday, the schedule has been altered to finish the series with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.Â
Binghamton has won four of its last six, thanks to series wins at Norfolk State and George Washington. The Bearcats are hitting .279 as a team and have a 6.07 pitching ERA.
Junior outfielder
Tommy Reifler leads the team with a .368 average. Junior outfielder
Mike Gunning and junior shortstop
Isaiah Corry are both hitting .333. Thanks to a 7-RBI performance last Sunday at GW, sophomore second baseman
Nick Roselli has a team-high 15 RBI.Â
Lafayette lost at Fordham 11-1 Thursday afternoon. The Leopards dropped three at former America East member Stony Brook last weekend, losing 11-6, 9-7 and 9-3. The team is hitting .256 and has a 10.24 pitching ERA. Lafayette was picked to finish sixth in the Patriot League standings after going 15-35 last spring (T-5th in PL). Senior outfielder Pete Ciuffreda is a two-time all-conference selection and has six home runs already this spring, including one Thursday.
Lafayette leads the all-time series 8-5. The teams haven't played in 15 years but BU has won the last two head-to-head encounters, 4-1 in 2006 and 3-1 in 2007.Â
