Joey Cardascia won the Eastern Section title, highlighting Binghamton's performance at Penn Relays this weekend. There was no team scoring at the three-day meet.
In a race where five teams finished within a second of each other, the Bearcats were able to squeak out the victory with a time of 3:16.23. Their margin of victory was a scant .28 seconds ahead of runner-up Fordham. It marked the first time in program history that a Binghamton relay team has won a title at Penn Relays.
The Bearcat women's 4x400 relay team also made the finals on Saturday, clocking a seventh-place time of 3:47.21 in the College Section. That performance currently ranks sixth all-time in Binghamton program history. Sophomore

Stephanie Cassens, as well as seniors
Serena Gay and
Sophia Morone were all part of that quartet.
The final Binghamton relay team to take part in Saturday's finals was the women's 4x100 relay team of junior
Gabby Hyatt, freshman
Angie Mesa-Espinosa, Morone and
Jenna Chan. That Bearcat quartet was ninth with a time of 47.33 in the College Section.
Up next for Binghamton is the America East Championships, which will be held next Saturday-Sunday at the University of Albany.
