VESTAL, N.Y. - Winners of 10 of their last 13 games, Binghamton baseball (14-10) turns back the clock this weekend with a three-game set against former America East rival and now non-conference foe Hartford (2-17) at the Bearcats Baseball Complex. The teams will play a single game at 3 p.m. Friday and finish with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.

On Tuesday, BU handled visiting St. Bonaventure 14-4. In the game, senior first baseman Kevin Gsell and junior left fielder Christian Perez combined for nine RBI and BU scored 13 runs in the first three innings to pull away early. Gsell finished 4-for-4 and continued a torrid stretch that has seen him raise his average to .398 in the last month. In his last 16 games, Gsell has gone 33-for-62 (.532) with nine doubles and 20 RBI. Junior outfielder Tommy Reifler (.400) and Gsell (.398) are 1-2 atop the America East in hitting.

Binghamton's weekend rotation will be senior LHP Thomas Babalis (2-2, 4.58 ERA) on Friday and junior RHP Gabe Driscoll (3-0, 2.82 ERA) and senior RHP Ryan Bryggman (3-2, 8.04 ERA) in Saturday's doubleheader. Driscoll leads the America East in ERA.      

The Hawks begin their first year transitioning out of the America East conference with the intent on reclassifying to NCAA Division III. After numerous departures of scholarship players, it's a young team (13 freshmen) for second-year head coach Steve Malinowski.

The team's lone wins this spring have come against Georgetown and Coppin State. On Tuesday, the Hawks lost to Sacred Heart 18-3. Hartford is hitting .205 and has a 8.98 pitching ERA. 

Binghamton leads the all-time series 55-21 but the teams have split the last eight games. Last season, BU won two of three at home. The Bearcats are 28-3 at home all-time against Hartford.
