Bearcats look to continue winning ways; Kick-off set for 1 p.m. on Staten Island

VESTAL, N.Y. - Fresh off a resounding 3-0 win on Thursday, Binghamton women's soccer (1-3-1) returns to the road for a tilt at Wagner (2-3) Sunday afternoon on Staten Island. The teams will square off at 1 p.m. at Hameline Field. It will be BU's fourth road game in six to open the 2023 season.

The Bearcats saw their offense heat up against Le Moyne on Thursday. Binghamton held 70 percent of the possession and broke open a 1-0 game with two goals in a 10-minute span midway through the second half. The Bearcats outshot the Dolphins 25-3 and were able to get 25 players into the game. Senior defender Lexi Vegoda tallied a goal (penalty) and an assist and sophomore forward Lauren Clark scored her first collegiate goal. Graduate midfielder Olivia McKnight opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a point-blank header.

Binghamton has three games remaining before beginning defense of its America East regular season title.

Wagner has won two of its last three and is coming off a 1-0 road win at Iona on Thursday. The Seahawks have played three straight one-goal games and four in their first five to start the season. The team dropped matches at Rider (1-0) and Fordham (4-0) before beating Army (1-0), losing to Manhattan (2-1) and earning the win at Iona, thanks to a goal in the 52nd minute. It was one of just five shots that Wagner produced against the Gaels. Graduate forward and first team All-NEC selection (2021) Madison Carr leads the team with two goals and four points. Junior keeper Sam Hughes (1.50 GAA) notched her second shutout of the season.

Binghamton owns a 2-0 lead in the all-time series, having posted home wins in 2006 (4-0) and 2019 (1-0).
