Bearcat women second, men third in first competition of 2024

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Graduate student Sophia Ryan was named the Women's Most Outstanding Performer, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the Bucknell/Gulden Indoor Track & Meet on Saturday at the Gerhard Field House. The Bearcats were second out of seven teams in the women's standings and third out of six squads in the final men's results.

Ryan, who was competing in her first track & field meet for Binghamton, clocked a first-place time of 2:48.31. In addition to breaking the previous school record of 2:49.83 (set by Alexis Hatcher in 2015) but also the facility record of 2:50.14, which was set by D. Startare of Penn State back in 1983.

Ryan, who transferred from Utah in the summer of 2022, competed for the Bearcats in cross country the past two seasons but redshirted in both indoor and outdoor track & field in 2022-23. This is her final full track season.

In addition to Ryan's record-breaking performance, Binghamton posted five other individual winners – including three men and two women.
