VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's basketball finishes up a two-game, four-day road trip that has covered nearly 3,000 miles when the Bearcats (1-2) face Atlantic 10 member Fordham (1-1) Tuesday night in the Bronx. The teams tip at 7 p.m. at historic Rose Hill Gym.
Binghamton began the trip with an 88-64 loss at University of Miami Sunday afternoon in Coral Gables, Fla. Sophomore forward
Gavin Walsh had perhaps his best collegiate game against the ACC-member Hurricanes. He tallied a game- and career-high 21 points with 10 rebounds. Walsh tallied 10 of those points in the first 3:37 of the second period. For the game, he hit 4-of-7 from 3-point range and reached double-digit boards for his second collegiate double-double. After trailing by 21 points at half, the Bearcats twice brought their deficit to 14 but could draw no closer. Binghamton played Miami to within three over the final 20 minutes (42-39).

PRACTICE AT NBPA
For the second in four years, Binghamton got the special privilege of working out at the NBA Players Association Training Facility in Manhattan, courtesy of alum
Ron Klempner '84. The facility is located within the NBPA Headquarters in midtown Manhattan and serves as a "home away from home" for current former NBA players. In addition to the court, the 47,000-square-foot facility features space for players to have meetings with agents, and classrooms that will help train players during the off-season in topics ranging from finance to franchise management. A small broadcast studio for promo and music recording purposes is open to the union's entire membership. Klempner is the General Counsel for the National Basketball Players Association and has worked with for organization for 32 years. Ron received his bachelor of arts degree in literature and rhetoric from Binghamton in 1984 before earning his law degree from Hofstra in 1987.
BACK TO THE BOROUGHS FOR CALLAHAN-GOLD AND SNAGG
Graduate forward
Ben Callahan-Gold grew up in Manhattan and went to high school at Beacon School — 15 miles south of the Fordham campus. Redshirt freshman forward
Stephan Snagg grew up in Queens, giving the Bearcats two players from NYC.
HELLO OLD FRIEND
The Bearcats will see an old friend in Rams graduate manager Ogheneyole "Saviour" Akuwovo, who played at Binghamton from 2020-23. Akuwovo, a 6-foot-9 center from Nigeria, shot 61% over his three seasons before graduating with a bachelor's degree. He then played his final collegiate season at Fordham in 2023-24, playing 29 games. Akuwovo then stayed on to serve in his current support role this season while he finishes his master's degree work in media management.
FEAST OR FAMINE TO OPEN SEASON
Binghamton has alternated lopsided results to begin 2024-25. Last Monday, BU began its season with a 108-66 loss at Penn State in a game they fell behind by 31 points at half. The Bearcats turned the page with an 82-63 home win over Division III SUNY Oneonta on Thursday in a game that they led by as many as 41 points. On Saturday in Miami, the team fell to the ACC member Hurricanes 88-64.
HECTIC PACE TO START SEASON
The Bearcats are finishing up a four-games-in-nine-days stretch to open the season, with three of those games being on the road. This two-game road trip began at 4 a.m. Saturday with a bus ride up I-81 to Syracuse and a flight to Miami for Sunday's game against Univ. Miami. A postgame flight from Miami to LaGuardia followed with the Bearcats getting to their hotel after 11 p.m. Sunday. A trip into Manhattan and practice at the NBA Player's Association facility highlighted Monday. The team will return to campus by bus after Tuesday's game after 1 a.m.
