Bearcats take part in meets at Cornell and Boston

ITHACA, N.Y./Boston, Mass. - Binghamton recorded six first-place finishes, a school record and a freshman record at the Cornell/Greg Page Relays. The two-day non-scoring meet, which concluded on Saturday, marked the first meet of the season for the Bearcats. In addition, a handful of distance runners competed at the Boston University Season Opening Meet on Saturday

Graduate student Jenna Chan won the women's 60 hurdles and broke her own school record with a time of 8.44. In the process, she eclipsed her 2024 mark of 8.46. The other two first-place finishers on the women's side were senior Gianna Hoose in the weight throw (54-2 ½) and freshman Savanna Edwards in the 500 (1:19:12).

There were also three individual winners on the men's side at Cornell. Senior Joe Cardascia won the 500 (1:05.58), redshirt junior Brian Luciano captured the weight throw (67-1 ¼) and freshman Brennan Delany took top honors in the heptathlon (5,032).

The Bearcats' freshman record was set by Justin Hargraves, whose fifth-place 60 time of 6.88 surpassed Jon Alkins' 2014 mark of 6.92.

Runner up finishes on the women's side were turned in by sophomore Kaya Duran in the 500 (1:20.31), junior Lucciana Robertson in the high jump (5-7 ¼) and fellow junior Alyssa Armitage in the pole vault (12-6 ¼).
