BU GRINDS OUT OT WIN OVER MAINE
On Thursday, BU played a sharp five-minute overtime (4-of-6 FG, 6-of-8 FT) and completed a season sweep of Maine with a 76-74 win. The victory clinched a fourth straight playoff spot for the Bearcats, who can earn anywhere from the No. 5 seed to No. 8. Armon Harried stepped back into the point guard role with No. 2 NCAA assist man Symir Torrence sidelined and Harried produced 16 points, eight rebounds and a career-high seven assists in the full 45 minutes. Gavin Walsh scored a game-high 17 points with nine rebounds, graduate forward Dan Petcash notched team-high third double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 boards and Tymu Chenery added 13 points and in the process, eclipsed the 1,000-point career scoring mark.

CHENERY REACHES 1,000-POINT SCORING MARK
Senior guard and leading scorer Tymu Chenery needed 12 points on Thursday to reach 1K and with his overtime layup with 1:25 left, he wound up with 13 and now sits on 1,001 points. The bucket broke a 68-68 tie and gave BU the lead for good. He scored 642 points in three seasons at Quinnipiac and now has 359 this season with the Bearcats. Chenery ranks 8th in the America East in scoring (15.0), 10th in field goal percentage (51%) and fifth in blocks (1.4). He has scored in double figures 13 straight games. Chenery will be honored with a commemorative ball pregame.

BEARCATS AIMING FOR 10TH HOME WIN
Binghamton is 9-4 at home this season (69%), the team's highest home win percentage since 2009-10 (9-3, .750). A win over UNH on Saturday would give BU its 10th win, which would be the most since the 2008-09 championship team went 12-2 at the Events Center.

BU LEADS CONFERENCE IN HOME ATTENDANCE
The Bearcats rank No. 1 in the America East in average home attendance (2,279), ahead of Vermont (2,226) and UAlbany (2,179). BU led the AE in attendance nine straight years between 2003-11 but hasn't won the "title" since 2013-14. Binghamton has led the America East in home attendance in 10 of the last 18 years. Last year BU finished second (2,110/game) to Vermont.

3-BALL A WEAPON IN WIN OVER MAINE
After struggling to 29% shooting from beyond the arc all season, BU hit 11-of-23 (48%) in the overtime win over Maine on Thursday. Entering the game the Bearcats were averaging just five makes, but hit 7-of-10 in the first half and wound up with 11 — the team's second-highest total of the season (12 vs. Le Moyne on Dec. 9 at home). Armon Harried, who had just five 3-pointers on the season, hit 3-of-4. Others with multiple makes were Dan Petcash (3), Tymu Chenery (2) and Gavin Walsh (2). Chris Walker had the other 3-ball.

TORRENCE IS 3RD IN NCAA IN ASSISTS
Graduate guard Symir Torrence is now at No. 3 in the nation in assists (7.5/game), behind Tyler Kolek of Marquette (7.6) and Elijah Hawkins of Minnesota (7.52). In his last four games, Torrence is averaging 9.3 assists. He has produced eight or more assists 11 times this season. That 7.5 average also leads the America East by more than two per game. Torrence (172 total assists) is bidding to become the first America East player in 18 years (Jay Greene, UMBC, 7.2/game) to average more than 7.0 assists per game. Sam Sessoms holds the BU Division I record for season assist average (4.8 in 2019-20). Former D3 point guard Chris Ballerini (1995-99) holds the overall program records for season assists (217) and assist average (8.0), both achieved in 1997-98, BU's final season of D3. Torrence also leads BU in rebounding (5.9, 10th in AE) and has had 11 double-digit scoring games. He has two double-doubles, including one at UML last Thursday (12 points, 11 assists). The last time a BU player ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation in any statistical category was 7-foot shot blocker Nick Billings '05, who was second in blocks (6.5/game) in 2002-03.

BEARCATS STRONG ON GLASS
Binghamton ranks second in the AE and 38th in the country in rebound margin (+5.1). The Bearcats also rank 24th in the nation in defensive rebounds (27.9/game).

70 REMAINS TIPPING POINT
When BU holds its opponent under 70 (in regulation), it's 12-2. When opponents reach the 70-point mark, BU is 1-12. When the Bearcats score 70 or more points (in regulation), they are 8-4. Under 70 they are 5-10.

BU ONE OF BEST AMERICA EAST TEAMS SCORING INSIDE ARC
Despite its struggles from 3-point range (30%, last in AE), BU ranks fourth in the America East in overall field goal percentage (46%) and also is third in percentage inside the arc. The Bearcats are shooting 53% inside the arc, trailing only conference leader Vermont (56%) and second-place UMass Lowell (56%).

BALANCED SCORING, REBOUNDING
Binghamton has six players averaging 8.0 or more points. By comparison, last season's team only had four in that range. Seven different players have led the team in game scoring this season (Chenery 10, Harried 4, Walker 2, Ashe 2, Balogun 3, Benson 2, Walsh 2). Seven different players have been the top rebounder.
