VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball (13-19, 3-9 America East) welcomes longtime SUNY rival UAlbany (5-24, 3-8 AE) to Bearcats Baseball Stadium for a three-game set this weekend. The teams will play at 6:30 p.m. Friday and then Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.) afternoons.  

Binghamton had its six-game non-conference win streak snapped with a 9-7 home loss to Cornell on Tuesday. The Bearcats will now turn their attention to an important America East series — one of just four remaining in the regular season. BU has dropped five of its last six conference games and is looking up in the standings with the Great Danes just ahead.

Senior right fielder Mike Gunning leads the America East in home runs (13) and ranks third in RBI (32).

The Bearcats are hitting .263 (fifth in AE) and have a 6.02 pitching ERA (third). They lead the league with a .972 fielding percentage. Expected to start this weekend are Gabe Driscoll (4-3, 3.50 ERA) and Nelson Berkwich (2-4, 5.77). Sunday's starter is to be determined.  

UAlbany has dropped eight of its last nine, including three-game AE sweeps to Bryant and UMBC. Before that, the Great Danes split two games with UMass Lowell and won two of three against Maine. On Tuesday, UA defeated Central Conn. 9-7 at home. 

The team is hitting .239, has a pitching ERA of 10.67 and a fielding percentage of .954.  

UAlbany has a balanced lineup with eight players with double-digit RBI totals. Third baseman and No. 3 hitter Will Binder is hitting .327 with nine doubles, 16 RBI and a .452 on-base percentage.

Series starters are projected to be Dylan Banner (1-2, 13.00 ERA), Cregg Scherrer (0-0, 4.22 ERA) and Matthew Mariano (1-3, 12.49).

Since both programs joined the America East in 2002, Binghamton leads the head-to-head series 49-40. But Albany has won seven of the last 11. BU took two of three last May in Albany.
