Win over NJIT secures historic milestone for 32nd-year mentor

VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton head baseball coach Tim Sinicki has reached the 700-win plateau with the Bearcats' 12-7 victory over NJIT on Saturday.

In his 32nd year, Sinicki now joins an elite group of 11 NCAA Division I baseball coaches who have won 700 or more games at the same school.

Sinicki, a six-time America East Coach of the Year, began his career in 1993, when the then-Division III Colonials played home games with wooden benches on a uneven grass playing surface. Now the Division I Bearcats practice and compete in a $60 million complex that is one of the finest in collegiate baseball.

He is the longest-tenured coach in Binghamton University history and owns the fifth-longest tenure at one school among any current NCAA Division I baseball coaches. Having been to five NCAA Regionals since 2009, Sinicki has consistently positioned the Bearcats among the elite teams in the America East and the Northeast.

The Bearcats advanced to NCAA Regionals in 2009, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2022 and the program also has won six America East regular season crowns. The 2022 conference title was BU's fourth championship in the last nine years - double the number of titles of any other current conference member. Binghamton's 11 combined titles (in the last 15 years) are the most of any program in the America East. In addition, Sinicki has produced 21 Major League Baseball draft picks and pro signees in the last 12 years.

Sinicki's teams have advanced to the America East championship round three times in the last four years, including a runnerup showing in 2023.

Binghamton will again host the upcoming America East tournament May 22-25 and will be the No. 6 seed.
