Bearcats set to play all home matches inside the Events Center

VESTAL, N.Y. (BUBearcats.com) - The Binghamton University volleyball team released its 2024 schedule Monday afternoon, announced Head Coach Allie Yaeger

"I'm really excited about the non-conference schedule we've put together for this season," said Yaeger. "It's a challenging lineup that will test our team and help us grow. We're looking forward to competing against some of the top programs in the northeast and showing what Binghamton volleyball is all about."

Last season, the Bearcats advanced to the America East Championship for the second year in a row and completed a reverse sweep over New Hampshire to advance to the championship final for the first time since 2017. As a team, Binghamton finished the season atop the America East standings in hitting percentage and blocks. Senior outside hitter Tsvetelina Ilieva earned back-to-back All-America, All-Region and America East Player of the Year honors.

For the first time in program history, all of the Bearcats' home matches will be played inside the Events Center. Last season, the team played in the Events Center for the first time, Aug. 25, but split time between the arena and West Gym next door.

The 2024 campaign will feature nine home matches and 22 road contests, including four invitationals at the start of the season. The Bearcats are set to see 18 non conference opponents and five familiar America East faces.

Binghamton's non conference schedule includes competition from the nation's top conferences in Boston College, Sept. 7, Rutgers, Sept. 12, and West Virginia, Sept. 21. The team is set to face off against Northeast Conference opponents Merrimack, Central Connecticut, Le Moyne and LIU. The Bearcats will see three Patriot League foes in Bucknell, Aug. 31, Colgate, Oct. 16, and Lehigh, Nov. 13.

Binghamton is also set to see competition from the Mid-American, Big East, Metro Atlantic Athletic, Colonial Athletic, Atlantic 10, Ivy League and American conferences.

The Bearcats will kick off fall competition at home for the second straight year with the Bearcat Classic, Aug. 30-31. Binghamton once again plays host to Merrimack while Toledo and Bucknell compete for the first time.

Next the team heads to the Fairfield Invitational, Sept. 6-7, for matches against Central Connecticut, hosts Fairfield and Boston College. Binghamton's third invitational brings the squad to Piscataway, N.J., Sept. 12-13, to compete against hosts Rutgers and VCU.

The Bearcats' final invitational takes them to the Bronx for the Rose Hill Classic, Sept. 20-21,  where the team faces off against hosts Fordham and West Virginia to close out tournament play.
Binghamton returns to Vestal for homecoming weekend, Sept. 27-28, to start conference play against UAlbany and LIU inside the Events Center. The team faces a rematch against America East Champion, UMBC, Oct. 4, next on the road.

The Bearcats host Bryant, Oct. 6, before heading out for a three-game road stand at Temple, Oct. 9, New Hampshire, Oct. 13, and Colgate, Oct. 16. The team plays NJIT at home, Oct. 20, then travels to UAlbany, Oct. 25, and Bryant, Nov. 1.

Binghamton concludes its home slate the following weekend against UMBC, Nov. 8, and New Hampshire, Nov. 10. The Bearcats finish up regular season play on the road next at Lehigh, Nov. 13, and NJIT, Nov. 17.

The 2024 America East Championship is scheduled for Nov. 22-23.
