VESTAL, N.Y. – There are some new faces on the Binghamton wrestling roster, as the program welcomes seven newcomers to the team for the 2024-25 season.
"I am excited about the additions we have made to our roster," said Binghamton Head Coach
Kyle Borshoff. "Our new athletes come from successful wrestling backgrounds, and I am looking forward to watching them make immediate contributions to our program."
Six freshmen and one transfer are joining a Bearcats team that is coming off one of its strongest seasons in recent memory. In 2023-24, Binghamton won nine duals, including seven against EIWA opponents. Both totals are their highest since 2017-18.
One of the most notable moments for the Bearcats was their 18-17 win against No. 18 Navy, the program's first against a top 20 opponent since the program began competing in Division I in 2001. Binghamton also earned a significant win on the road at Northwestern 21-15, its first win against a Big Ten opponent since 2017.
The Bearcats ultimately sent four wrestlers to the NCAA Wrestling Championships. Brevin Casella,
Cory Day and
Lou DePrez each won two matches at the tournament, making it the first time at least three Binghamton wrestlers won that many matches at nationals since 2012. Both Cassella and Day return to the roster for this upcoming season, while DePrez rejoined the coaching staff as an assistant.
