VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton men's basketball released its 15-game 2024-25 non-conference schedule on Tuesday and the slate includes marquee games against ACC and Big 10 opponents.
Coming off a 15-win campaign, head coach
Levell Sanders' squad will open its season on the road at Penn State on November 4. It will be the second time the Bearcats have faced the Nittany Lions, who also hosted Binghamton in 2017. Penn State went 13-4 at home last season and won 16 games, including a victory over Michigan in the first round of the Big 10 tournament.
Binghamton's home opener will be three days later against SUNY Oneonta (Nov. 7).
A tough combination of games at ACC member Miami (Nov. 10) and Atlantic 10 foe Fordham (Nov. 12) follows. Miami is just two years removed from its historic 29-8 season and run to the NCAA Final Four in 2022-23. The Hurricanes won 15 games last season, including noted victories over Notre Dame, Pitt and Clemson. Longtime Bearcat fans will recall that the last time the team traveled down to Coral Gables on Dec. 20, 2006, Binghamton came away with a stunning 79-74 win – one that made national sports news.
Fordham has reached the A-10 quarterfinals in three of the last four years.
Events Center fans will be treated to perhaps the best non-conference opponent Binghamton has ever hosted when reigning Big South champion and NCAA tournament team Longwood (Va.) comes to town on Nov. 19. The Lancers went 21-14 last season and boast three straight 20+ win seasons with two of those ending in an NCAA bid.
Another 20-win opponent awaits when Binghamton heads to New Britain to face Central Connecticut State on Nov. 24. The Blue Devils went 11-4 at home last season and won the Northeast Conference regular season title with a 13-3 mark.
After Thanksgiving, the Bearcats will play three games at the Lafayette Tournament before heading up I-81 to face Le Moyne on Dec. 7. The team will then close out December with two home games (Dec. 15 and Dec. 18) and road games at traditional in-state rivals Army (Dec. 22) and Marist (Dec. 29).
The 16-game America East slate will be announced later in September.
