Women’s Basketball Hosts Vermont in “Beyond the Classroom” Game

STORY LINES

- Binghamton hosts its second annual "Beyond the Classroom" Game. Last season, a program-record crowd of 3,429 fans filled the Events Center on Jan. 11, 2024 against Bryant. The game is being hosted by VISIONS, which is offering complimentary attendance to all school children who will be there. 

- Sophomore guard Bella Pucci led Binghamton (11-6, 3-1 AE) with 14 points and nine rebounds in a 67-44 win over New Hampshire (6-11, 0-4 AE) on Saturday at the Events Center. The Bearcats, who earned their third straight victory, shot 50.9 percent from the field (29-of-57) and held a 48-28 rebounding advantage.

- Pucci was one of four Bearcats in double figures, joined by redshirt junior guard Jadyn Weltz (12 points, 4 rebounds), junior guard Kaia Goode (11 points, 5 assists), and sophomore forward Kendall Bennett (10 points, five rebounds). Bennett has now reached double figures in scoring four consecutive games.

- Weltz - the current America East Player of the Week - ranks second in the America East in steals (2.3 spg.), fifth in assists (3.2 apg.) and No. 11 in scoring (10.8 ppg.). Pucci ranks eighth in rebounding, averaging 5.5 boards per game. 
As a team, Binghamton leads the conference with 9.0 steals per game. It also leads the America East in rebounding, with 36.1 per contest. In addition, the Bearcats also rank second in scoring defense (57.0 ppg.) and third in scoring offense (62.9 ppg.).

- Vermont (8-10, 3-1 AE) defeated Bryant 74-43 at home on Saturday. Anna Olson led Vermont with 18 points. Nikola Priede and Malia Lenz also scored in double figures with 14 and 10 points respectively. The Catamounts as a team dished out 20 assists.

- Olson leads Vermont and ranks fourth in the conference with 14.7 points per game. Catherine Gilwee leads the America East in assists (4.1 apg.). Bella Vito ranks third in steals (2.2 spg.) and sixth in rebounding (6.4 rpg.). 

- As a team, Vermont ranks second in the conference in both blocks (3.2 bpg.) and assists (14.1 apg.). The Catamounts also place fourth in scoring with an average of 61.4 points per game.

- Hayley Moore - a 2022 Binghamton alum - is in her first season as an assistant coach on the Vermont staff. She was a four-year letterwinner and two-year starter for the Bearcats. Moore was part of the 2019-20 Binghamton squad that finished 22-9.

- Vermont leads the all-time series against Binghamton 29-18. The two teams split the season series last year. The Catamounts won 51-38 on Jan. 18 in Burlington but the Bearcats got even with a 66-57 victory at home on Feb. 3.
