Jack Tebeau ties for third for first collegiate top-five finish

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Binghamton golf team closed out its fall portion of the 2025-26 season by posting another top-three finish, as the Bearcats finished third at the Crusader Invitational Tuesday at Worcester Country Club.

The Bearcats finished the 36-hole event at 287-291 = 578/18-over par. This is the third time Binghamton has finished in the top three at an event this season, and second time in as many tournaments. The Bearcats have previously finished second at both the Blue Hen Intercollegiate on Sept. 16 and at their home event, the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational, on Oct. 6.

"I think it was a successful fall," said Binghamton Head Golf Coach Bernie Herceg. "We're definitely making progress. I'm proud of the guys for the work they're putting in."

Freshman Jack Tebeau earned his first collegiate top-five finish by tying for third at 69-71 = 140/even par. After he and the rest of the Bearcats completed the final few holes of the first round Tuesday morning, Tebeau got par on every hole in the final round except 17, where he bogeyed. He also shot 69/1-under par in the first round, which is tied for his lowest score over 18 holes this season. Tebeau also shot 71/1-under par in the first round of the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational.

Brandon Conner surged up the leaderboard Tuesday to finish tied for 15th. After shooting 77/7-over par in the opening round, the senior bounced back with a score of 68/2-under par during the final round Tuesday, the lowest of any Bearcat. He finished the 36-hole event at 145/5-over par.

This is the third time that Conner has finished within the top 20 this season, as he previously placed second at both the Blue Hen Intercollegiate and the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational. Overall, Conner has seven top 20 finishes throughout his Binghamton career.

Siena won the invitational at 288-276 = 564/4-over par. Michael McConie took medalist honors for the Saints at 67-69 = 136/4-under par.

With the second half of the season starting in a few months, Herceg will have the Bearcats working on improving their game throughout the winter.

"The offseason is great to work on your swing and make some adjustments during that time, and also getting stronger in the gym," said Herceg. "So, we'll work on that the next few months."

The spring portion of the schedule will be announced at a later date.
