Junior guard honored for first time in her career

VESTAL, N.Y. – Junior guard Bella Pucci has been named the America East Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. It marks the first time in her career that she has earned the conference's weekly accolade. She shares this week's honor with Nia Scott of Bryant.

Pucci averaged 24.0 points in a pair of games last week. She finished with a game-high 19 points at sixth-ranked Michigan on Tuesday and followed up with a game-high and career-best 29 points in Binghamton's 95-94 double-overtime win at Akron on Thursday.

Against the Zips, Pucci hit back-to-back three-point field goals in the final six seconds to force overtime. She tied the game on a buzzer-beater from well-beyond the three-point arc. In the second overtime, Pucci scored the game-winning basket with five seconds remaining. Her heroics were shown the following day on ESPN's Sportscenter.

Pucci shot 41 percent for the week (14-of-34), drained seven three-point field goals and was 13-of-15 from the free throw line (86.7 percent). Pucci also averaged 5.0 rebounds in the two games in addition to 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per contest.

For the season, Pucci ranks fifth in the America East with a career-high 18.0 points per game.

Binghamton is at Columbia tonight for a 7 p.m. game.
