Mahoney, Balkey and Gillon honored for academic and athletic success

VESTAL, N.Y. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced its 2025 Men's Soccer Academic All-District Teams and a trio of Binghamton student-athletes are included. Senior back Will Mahoney is joined by junior midfielder Alex Balkey and sophomore Ryan Gillon.

Formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA), the CSC divides the NCAA institutions into nine geographic districts, with Binghamton being located in District 1. In order to earn Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must have played in at least 90 percent of their team's matches – or started in 65 percent of them - during the recently completed season and have maintained at least a 3.5 undergraduate cumulative GPA.

Mahoney, who earlier in the month was named to the America East All-Academic Team, was the Bearcats captain this season. Balkey finished the season with two goals and an assist while Gillon posted a goal and two assists.

This marks the first career CSC Academic All-District selection for all three Bearcat honorees.
