VESTAL, N.Y. – For the first time this season, three Binghamton volleyball players were selected as America East Conference weekly award winners, the league announced Tuesday. The Bearcats picked up two critical wins over UAlbany and NJIT this week, moving them to 5-3 in the America East Standings.
Viktoria Dimitrova earned her first Player of the Week honor after providing back-to-back 20+ kills over the weekend. The Sofia, Bulgaria native posted 21 kills for a new career high in a 3-1 victory over UAlbany. She also had 12 digs to record her third double-double of the season. Then bested her career best with 22 kills in a 3-2 win over NJIT.
The sophomore right-side hitter is the only player in the conference this season to have back-to-back 20+ kill games and is the first Bearcat to do so since Dec. 2024 (
Tsvetelina Ilieva). Dimitrova was also a part of the last time three Bearcats were named AE weekly award winners (11/12/24). She was named Rookie of the Week after registering double-digit kills in back-to-back matches and joined Ilieva (Player) and
Lottie Scully (Setter) on the weekly awards list.
Regan Kadel was named Setter of the Week after posting two career-best performances against UAlbany and NJIT. Kadel provided a career-best 52 assists in the victory over UAlbany. She then followed up with a new career high of 60 assists in the win over NJIT. Kadel is the only player in the conference to post 60 assists this season and becomes the first Bearcat to do so since 2022 (Scully, 64).
Maya Coblentz-Brown picked up her fourth Rookie of the Week honor after totaling 29 kills while averaging 3.22 kills per set. She had a .381 hitting percentage in a 2-0 week for the Bearcats. She becomes the third player in program history to have been named Rookie of the Week at least four times in a season (Giulia Bonifacio x7 2022, Lauren Kornmann x4 2016).
The Bearcats return to play this Friday for Senior Day at the Events Center against Bryant. The first serve is slated for a 6 p.m. start time.
