Women's basketball heads to Syracuse

Bearcats have won three straight and will look to extend their streak to four

VESTAL, N.Y.- Binghamton women's basketball (6-3) travels north to take on Syracuse (9-1) tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the JMA Wireless Dome.

The Bearcats picked up their sixth win of the season against Marist 69-58. Kendall Bennett registered her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. She also provided four blocks and was 10-for-12 at the free throw line. Binghamton's bench had 29 points behind senior guard Meghan Casey's 11 points on 4-for-8 from the field and 3-for-6 behind the three-point line. Freshman Carletta Bennett went 5-for-6 from the field for 10 points off the bench.

Over Binghamton's three game win streak, the Bearcats have held their opponents to 57.0 points per game, and are winning with a +10.7-scoring average. The Bearcats defense has been great, averaging 15.7 turnovers and 10.0 steals a game.

Rookie of the Week
C. Bennett was named American East Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. The freshman from Brampton, Ontario provided 10 points on a career best 5-for-6 shooting from the field. She also had three rebounds, a block and a steal in Binghamton's win over Marist.

On the National Scale
Out of 359 teams in the nation, the Bearcats rank 26th in turnovers forced per game at 22.11 47th in steals per game at 11.3 and 58th in free throw percentage at 75.7 (all first in the AE).

Pucci Gang
Bella Pucci has started the season off strong, tallying double-digits in scoring in eight of Bing's nine games. She's currently averaging 15.0 points, which sits fifth in the league with two fewer games. She registered 29 points in a career game against Akron earlier this season.

Bennett's Boards
With 68 totals rebounds, K. Bennett sits fifth in the conference, averaging 7.6 rebounds a game. She averages the third most offensive rebounds with 2.4 and sixth in defensive boards with 5.7.

Winning the Turnover Battle
The Bearcats have the second highest turnover margin in the conference with a 4.00 average. They are forcing a league high 22.0 turnovers to opponents, while turning the ball over an average of 18.0 a game. Helping the cause is Casey, who is second in the conference in steals per game, averaging 2.1.
