VESTAL, N.Y. Binghamton men's basketball freshman guard
Jake Blackburn has been named America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Blackburn, whose collegiate debut was delayed five weeks due to injury, averaged 8.5 points on 67 percent shooting in a pair of games last week. The 6-foot-5 sharpshooter hit 4-for-4 from 3-point range to chip in 12 points at ACC member Pitt on Wednesday. Three days later, he added five points at Mercyhurst. Just getting back into game fitness, Blackburn averaged 22 minutes in each game.
He becomes Binghamton's first weekly award winner this season and the Bearcats' first rookie recipient since the end of the 2023-24 season (
Gavin Walsh on March 4, 2024).
