VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's basketball closes a stretch of three straight road games when the Bearcats (3-10) head to West Point to face Army (5-7) Tuesday afternoon. The teams tip at noon at Christl Arena.
Binghamton has just two games remaining before America East play begins. After Tuesday, the Bearcats get a five-day break for the holidays before hosting Elmira on Dec. 29. Â
ABOUT ARMY
•   Idle for 11 days since holding off fellow America East foe UMBC 63-60 on Dec. 12 in Baltimore
•   Have won four of their last five games
•   Other D-I wins have come vs. FDU and Manhattan
•   Picked to finish 10th of 10 in Patriot League preseason poll
•   Returned just starter but 14 lettermen from 17-16 team (10-8 in PL, best PL showing in program history)
•   Have 13 underclassmen and typically start just one senior, alongside two sophomores and two juniors
•   Seventeen players have played in 3+ games this season (Bing has 8)
•   Average 72+ points on offense but give up 76+ points on defense
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. ARMY
•   Army leads the all-time series, which began in 1986, 9-6
•   Bing has won three straight and four of the last five head-to-head
•   Last Dec. 22, the Bearcats won 78-68 at Christl Arena
•   In that game, Binghamton built a nine-point halftime lead and held off the Black Knights to extend Bing's win streak to six. Sophomore forward
Gavin Walsh pulled down a then-school-record 20 rebounds and  senior forward
Chris Walker netted a game-high 16 points. Binghamton also got 16 points from graduate guard
Tymu Chenery and 15 points from senior forward
Nehemiah Benson. The Bearcats led for more than 34 minutes but had to endure a few Army charges in the second half. After the last host surge, Bing made 4-of-4 free throws in the final 53 seconds to seal the win. Â
QUIGLEYÂ CAREER-HIGH 24 POINTS NOT ENOUGH AT MERCYHURST
Junior point guard
Jeremiah Quigley cashed in at the free throw line (14-for-17) but a six-field-goal first half cost the Bearcats in their 82-61 loss at Mercyhurst on Saturday. Binghamton fell behind 42-18 at half and despite outscoring the Lakers in the second half, it was too tall a task to rally. Binghamton shot 58% in the second half and scored 43 points. Quigley scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the final period.Â
BLACKBURN NAMED AMERICA EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman guard
Jake Blackburn had two solid outings last week and was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday. He gave Binghamton fans a glimpse of what's to come in his promising career with a 12-point showing at Pitt. Blackburn was playing just his second collegiate game after an injury kept him out off the floor since August. He hit 4-of-4 shots — all 3-pointers — in 22 minutes off the bench. Blackburn then added five points and two rebounds in 22 minutes at Mercyhurst. The 6-foot-5 sharpshooter came to campus from Southborough, Mass. with an elite outside touch.  Â
LILLEY INJURED AT MERCYHURST, OUT OF LINEUP
Senior leading scorer and rebounder
Demetrius Lilley was limited to just six minutes at Mercyhurst after exiting with an injury. Lilley entered the game ranked third in the country in double-doubles (8) and 13th in rebounds (10.3). Â
BEARCATS KEEP PACE AT PITT FOR 30 MINUTES
Binghamton absorbed a 103-63 loss at Pitt on Wednesday but the lopsided score was the result of an 11-minute stretch that bookended each half. During that span, Pitt outscored Bing 42-9. For a nearly 30-minute period (73% of game), the Bearcats were only outscored 61-54. Â
QUIGLEY LEADS CONFERENCE IN ASSISTS
Junior point guard
Jeremiah Quigley leads the America East and ranks 32nd in the country in assist average (5.8). He also ranks fourth in the AE in assist-to-turnover ratio, second in minutes (35/game) and seventh in scoring (13.1). He has registered 6+ assists six times this season. Former PG Symir Torrence averaged a school-record 7.2 assists in 2023-24 (5th in NCAA). Â Â
