VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton Head Volleyball Coach
Allie Yaeger announced Wednesday the addition of two recruits to the program for the Class of 2026. Both Sophia Christoffers and Sydney Geselbracht have committed to join the Bearcats at the start of the 2026 season.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Sophia and Sydney into our Binghamton Volleyball family," said Yaeger. "Both bring a level of competitiveness, character, and work ethic that aligns perfectly with the direction of our program. Together, Sophia and Sydney add depth and versatility to a group that's hungry for more. We can't wait to add them to our team!"
Christoffers is an outside hitter hailing from Madison, N.J. Throughout her career at Madison High School, Christoffers has amassed more than 800 kills and 800 digs. In her junior season in 2024, she set the school record for kills in a season with 324 while also becoming the program's all-time leader in career kills. She followed that by breaking the single-season kills record by recording 415 in 2025. In each of those two seasons, Christoffers also helped Madison High School win the Central Jersey, Group 1 sectional championship.
"Sophia is a true six-rotation outside who impacts every phase of the game," said Yaeger. "She plays with an edge, has a strong volleyball IQ, and carries herself with the maturity of someone ready to contribute the moment she steps on campus."
Geselbracht, a middle blocker from Loveland, Ohio, joins the Bearcats following a decorated career at Mount Notre Dame High School in Cincinnati. She is a two-time Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association (OHSVCA) All-District team selection (First Team in 2025, Second Team in 2024) and a two-time Girls Greater Catholic League All-Star (Second Team in 2025, honorable mention in 2024). For her senior season in 2025, Geselbracht posted 120 kills, 39 digs and 27 service aces while helping Mount Notre Dame reach the state semifinals.
"Sydney brings instant presence in the middle of the net," said Yaeger. "She's long, explosive, and changes the game with her blocking and physicality."
The duo looks to help Binghamton build off its 2025 season where, with a roster where 11 of its 18 players were newcomers, the Bearcats reached the America East Volleyball Championship for the fourth season in a row. It was the first time the Bearcats reached the conference tournament in four consecutive seasons since 2014-17. Both
Viktoria Dimitrova and
Merima Smajlovic received First Team All-Conference honors from the America East. Since Binghamton had three players earn First Team All-Conference honors in 2024 (
Misa Dlouha,
Tsvetelina Ilieva and
Lottie Scully), it was the first time the Bearcats had multiple players make the First Team in back-to-back seasons since 2005 (2) and 2006 (3).
