First-time opponents will play at 3 p.m. Friday and then a DH Saturday beginning at noon

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball (6-8) welcomes first-time opponent Holy Cross (7-8) to the Bearcats Baseball Complex for a three-game weekend set. The teams will play a single game at 3 p.m. Friday and a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday. Admission to all regular season home games is free, compliments of UHS Sports Medicine

The Bearcats made it two straight wins with a walkoff 7-6 win over St. Bonaventure in the team's home opener Tuesday. After the Bonnies tied it with three runs in the top of the ninth, the Bearcats pushed across the game-winner in the bottom on a walk, two SAC bunts and a wild pitch. The Bearcats scored in every other inning, plating runs in the first, third, fifth, seventh and ninth innings. Senior third baseman Devan Bade went 4-for-5, junior second baseman Zack Kent belted a two-run home run, graduate first baseman Freddy Forgione hit a solo shot and senior DH Evin Sullivan added two RBIs as the Bearcats won their second straight and third in the last five after splitting a series at SEC member Missouri over the weekend.

The Crusaders are coming off a four-game split at VMI last weekend. They had their scheduled Tuesday night home game against UMass canceled due to weather. Holy Cross owns a big win over No. 22 Auburn (4-2) and also swept a three-game set from Towson. The team is hitting .272 and has a 7.88 pitching ERA. They were picked to finish third (of six) in the Patriot League preseason poll, behind six-time reigning champion Army and Navy, after winning 26 games and reaching the PL semifinal round last spring. Senior DH/1B/RHP Sean Scanlon was selected as the PL Preseason Player of the Year.
