URBANA, Md. – In its first competition of the spring season, the Binghamton golf team finds two of its members in the top 10 after the first round of the Carpetbagger Classic Saturday at Worthington Manor Golf Club.
Harrison Blech is tied for fifth out of 92 golfers at 72/even-par, while
Sean Shen, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 10th at 73/1-over par. Overall, Binghamton is tied for sixth at 305/17-over par.
Blech made his return to competition by posting four birdies throughout the day. Shen, who had three birdies, also recorded an eagle on the fifth hole to gain two strokes.
Both
Brandon Conner and
Ryan Millevoi finished the first day tied for 36th at 77/5-over par.
Lucas Brittain, who is appearing in his second collegiate tournament, is tied for 46th at 78/6-over par while competing as an individual.
Mount St. Mary's leads the tournament at 293/5-over par. One of their golfers, Aaron Sorkin, is in first place on the individual leaderboard at 70/2-under par.
The final round of the Carpetbagger Classic tees off on Sunday morning.
