VESTAL, N.Y. - First-place Binghamton baseball wraps up a seven-game road stretch when the Bearcats (13-12, 4-2 America East) head to Baltimore to face UMBC (9-13, 2-4 AE) in a three-game set. The teams play Friday night and Saturday and Sunday afternoons at Alumni Field.Â
Binghamton sits in a tie with NJIT atop the America East one-quarter of the way through the 24-game conference slate. The Bearcats took two of three from Maine and UAlbany and won nine of 11 before dropping their last two games. On Tuesday, Binghamton lost 8-7 at St. Bonaventure. The team is hitting .283 (2nd in AE), has a pitching ERA of 6.18 (4th) and a league-leading .980 fielding percentage.Â

UMBC is coming off an impressive 5-2 road win at Maryland on Tuesday. The Retrievers have won three of their last four after taking two of three at Georgetown last weekend. In conference play, UMBC took two of three from UMass Lowell before suffering a three-game sweep at NJIT. The team has a .238 batting average (7th in AE), 6.21 ERA (3rd) and a .935 fielding percentage (7th). Reigning America East Rookie of the Year and all-conference first baseman Leewood Molessa leads the team with five home runs and 20 RBI.Â
