Bearcat honorees recognized for athletic and academic accomplishments

VESTAL, N.Y. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced its 2024-25 Swimming & Diving Academic All-District Teams and eight members from Binghamton's program have been chosen. From the women's team are sophomores Fayanne Smith-Salzberg, Juliette Phillips and Haley Nowak as well as junior Maria Pignatelli. Representing the Bearcat men's squad are graduate student Jake Vecchio, junior Liam Preston as well as sophomores Dylan Norby and Harrison Lambert.

Formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA), the CSC divides the NCAA institutions into nine geographic districts, with Binghamton being located in District 1. In order to earn Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must have competed in five meets or have made the finals (top eight) in an event at the recent conference championships. In the classroom, all nominees must have attained sophomore status athletically and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

This marks the third straight appearance on the CSC Academic All-District Team for Vecchio and the second straight selection for both Pignatelli and Preston. The other five selections were honored for the first time.
