Division continues year-long "pop-up" stations with pizza on Events Center Concourse

VESTAL, N.Y. -- Binghamton's Division of Athletics continued its tradition of thanking its 400+ student-athletes with a special National Student-Athlete Day celebration on Thursday. Members of the athletics administration set up a familiar "pop-up" station on the Events Center Concourse and for this installment, pizza was served during the busy lunch hours.

Thursday's event preceded the official National Student-Athlete Day, which is April 6 (Sunday). This holiday was created in 1987 by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports. It celebrates high school and college student-athletes annually and promotes the positive virtues of sport, student-athletes as a whole, and the positive effect they both have on society.

The pizza "pop-up" station was the fifth one of the year with previous surprise snacks being chili & soup, baked potato bar, cider and donuts, and tacos.
