IJAMSVILLE, Md. –
Brandon Conner secured his second top 10 finish of the season by tying for eighth place out of 78 golfers at the inaugural Testudo Cup Sunday at P.B. Dye Golf Club.
The junior shot 74/2-over par during the final round to finish the tournament at 70-71-74 = 215/1-under par. It is the first time that the Cincinnati, Ohio native has finished a 54-hole event under par.
"It was a great tournament for Brandon," said Binghamton Head Coach
Bernie Herceg. "Saturday was a long day. It was our first time playing 36 holes in one day this year. So, it was a really good test for all of us and he [Conner] played great."
Conner previously earned medalist honors at the Lehigh Invitational back in October. He shot 67-74 = 141/3-under par, making him the only golfer in the 45-man field to finish the tournament under par. His score of 67/5-under par in the opening round of that event is tied for the second-lowest score relative to par in program history.
Overall, Binghamton finished tied for 11th at 297-290-309 = 896/32-over par. Both
Ryan Millevoi and
Jackson Vesper tied for 42nd at 225/9-over par. Vesper shot 77-71-77 over the course of the three rounds, while Millevoi finished with scores of 75-74-76.
Host Maryland won the tournament, with Yang Kuang taking home medalist honors for the Terrapins.
Binghamton continues its spring season at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, which takes place from April 12-13 at Penn State's Blue Golf Course in University Park, Pa.
