VESTAL, N.Y. – Following his top 10 finish at the inaugural Testudo Cup on Sunday,
Brandon Conner has been selected as a Prime Performer for the week by the Northeast Conference, the league announced Wednesday.
The junior tied for eighth at the event with a score 70-71-74 = 215/1-under par, making it the first time that the Cincinnati, Ohio native finished a 54-hole tournament under par at Binghamton. It is the second time this season that Conner has finished a tournament in the top 10 after he took home medalist honors at the Lehigh Invitational back in October.
Conner has been named a Prime Performer by the NEC three times throughout his career. He first received the honor on Oct. 5, 2023, for his performances throughout the month of September. That month, Conner tied for second at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational (67-70 = 137/7-under par) and finished tied for 12th at the Cornell Fall Invitational (78-66 = 144/2-over par). For the Matthews Auto invite, Conner set the program record for the lowest score relative to par through 36 holes at 7-under par. At both events, Conner also tied for the second-lowest round relative to par in program history. He first shot 66/5-under par in the final round of the Cornell invite, followed by a score of 67/5-under par in the opening round of the Matthews Auto event.
The second time Conner was named a Prime Performer was on Oct. 31, 2024, for his accomplishments that month. Additionally, he was also named Golfer of the Month, becoming the first Bearcat to receive that honor since Binghamton joined the NEC before the start of the 2023-24 season. After tying for 28th at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational (71-76 = 147/3-over par), Conner won the Lehigh Invitational at 67-74 = 141/3-under par. His overall score of 3-under par is the sixth-lowest in Binghamton history through 36 holes, while his tally of 67/5-under par in the opening round is tied for the second-lowest round relative to par in program history. Conner, who was the only golfer in the 45-man field to finish the event under par, became the first Bearcat to win a tournament since 2019 when Ryan Rodriguez took first at the Navy Invitational.
Binghamton's next event is the Rutherford Intercollegiate, which takes place from Saturday through Sunday at Penn State's Blue Golf Course in University Park, Pa.
