Forgione homers for second straight day; Bearcats outhit Midshipmen but lose on road

Box Score ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Binghamton baseball (21-21) nearly doubled up host Navy (25-23) in hits but dropped a 3-2 decision Sunday afternoon at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium.

The Bearcats accumulated nine hits and led 2-0 before the Midshipmen rallied for a second straight day. After being held to one hit over 5.0 innings by graduate starter Ryan Packard, Navy scored one run in the fifth and two deciding runs in the sixth. Binghamton had traffic on base all afternoon but left nine stranded, including the tying run in the eighth and ninth innings.

Graduate first baseman Freddy Forgione hit a 2-run home run for the second straight day. In the fourth, senior catcher Evin Sullivan singled with one out and Forgione followed with his ninth long ball of the season - another no-doubter over the wall in left. He added a single in the eighth but as the tying run, was left stranded on second.

Senior right fielder Zach Rogacki and sophomore left fielder Todd Abraham had two hits apiece. Both had strong plays in the outfield. Abraham made a nice diving catch at the warning track in the first inning that kept Navy off the board. Rogacki made the Midshipmen baserunner pay for trying to stretch a single into a double with a throw-out at second in the eighth.

Binghamton plays its final non-conference game of the season when Marist comes to town for a Tuesday night tilt.
