VESTAL, N.Y. - On the heels of the team's sixth America East title and NCAA Regional appearance, baseball standouts Evin Sullivan and Freddy Forgione have been named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-Region Teams, the association announced Tuesday afternoon. Binghamton's two selections were the most of any America East school. 

Sullivan was the first team catcher on the Northeast Region team, meaning he was deemed the top catcher in the entire 38-team region. He will advance to the national All-America ballot. Forgione, a graduate first baseman who played his final season with the Bearcats, was named to the second team. Both are the first Binghamton players at their positions to earn all-region status. 

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. I All-America & Coach of the Year Committee. The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches. The Northeast region spans eight conferences, including the ACC, Big East and Atlantic 10. The America East had four selections. 

"I'm incredibly proud of and happy for both Evin and Freddy for this well earned and deserved honor," head coach Tim Sinicki said. "Both of these outstanding young men played integral roles in helping the team win the America East Conference championship and earn a berth into the NCAA Tournament. This is a tremendous way to cap their collegiate careers."

Sullivan closed out his stellar four-year career with another banner season from behind the plate and in the cleanup-spot. He hit .307 with a team-high 29 extra-base hits and 50 RBI. Sullivan had 16 doubles and 13 home runs and was a first team all-conference selection. He posted a team-best 15 multi-RBI games, including four with 4+ RBI. He ranked among the America East top-10 in hits (62), OPS (.999), doubles, HR, RBI and slugging (.579). Sullivan began and ended his career with NCAA Regional berths and finished his Binghamton era among the school's top-10 in career hits (8th, 206), RBI (5th, 133), runs (8th, 130), doubles (4th, 47), home runs (5th, 26) and on-base percentage (6th, .405).  

Forgione made a huge impact in his only season with the Bearcats. A former Division III All-American (SUNY Maritime), he produced an explosive offensive season and locked down the first base bag on defense. Forgione was a first team all-conference selection and a member of the America East All-Championship Team. He hit .348 with 70 hits, a conference-high 15 home runs, 28 extra-base hits and 48 RBI. Forgione ranked among the America East top-5 in home runs, hits (4th), slugging (2nd, .637), on-base percentage (4th, .454) and OPS (2nd, 1.091). He also set a school record by reaching base in 39 consecutive games.
