Bearcat assistant to lead Fastpitch United Pro Series squad

VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton assistant softball coach Michaela Transue has been chosen as the head coach of the New York Rise softball team. Based out of Long Island, the Rise is a women's professional summer softball team and will open up its 2025 campaign on June 11.

Now in its second season, the Rise competes in the Fastpitch United Pro Series, whose season runs from mid-June to late July. Other teams in the league compete in places such as Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Florida, Orlando, Colorado and Atlanta.

Transue completed her third season as an assistant coach with Binghamton in 2025.  Since she joined the Binghamton staff, the squad has run up a 98-50 overall record. Transue has been an integral part of all facets of the Bearcat program during that stretch.

"This is a great opportunity for Michaela and we are so excited to watch her coach at the highest level of softball," Binghamton head coach Jess Bump said. "She is a relentless worker, and so passionate about the game and this endeavor will be something she will never forget. Our program is so lucky to be surrounded by the best and we can't wait to cheer her on."

"I am extremely excited to be a part of the game at the next level," Transue said. "I think pro softball has a huge space to fill in our game and the people who are investing in it are starting to see how important that visibility is. There are tons of softball fans since it has been so accessible to see on ESPN at the college level and we are truly gaining traction. I'm looking forward to learning and growing even more as a coach and bringing that experience back to our program and student athletes. It's a really cool opportunity for me to be back on Long Island at Hofstra, truly looking to grow and invest in the great game of Women's Fastpitch."

Transue has specialized as a hitting coach during her time at Binghamton and the Bearcats have turned in impressive offensive performances over the past two years. Binghamton's 68 home runs in 2025 shattered the program record (of 50 home runs) while its 83 doubles broke the previous record of 73 doubles. Over the past two seasons, Binghamton has homered 118 times and hit over .300 as a team.
