VESTAL, N.Y. –
Brandon Conner once again wrote himself near the top of the Binghamton golf record books as both the senior and the Bearcats as a team finished second at the Blue Hen Intercollegiate Tuesday at White Clay Creek Country Club.
Overall, Binghamton finished the 54-hole tournament at 302-294-294 = 890/26-over par. The second-place finish is the team's best at an event since the 2024 Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational, when Binghamton also placed second.
"It was a great team effort from everybody," said Binghamton Head Golf Coach
Bernie Herceg. "Us coming in second was great. We knew it would be difficult to catch Delaware after the first day, so our goal was to maintain our hold on second place, and we accomplished that."
For his fourth top 10 finish of his collegiate career and first of the season, Connor posted a score of 72-69-71 = 212/4-under par. His final tally is tied for the fourth-lowest score relative to par through 54 holes in program history. Also tied with Connor on that list is Bryce Edmister from the 2011 Austin Peay Intercollegiate and Kyle Wambold from the 2016 Big Sky Conference Championship.
Another golfer helping with Binghamton's runner-up finish was freshman
Alex Patel, who placed 10th in only his second collegiate event. Patel shot 74/2-over par in each round to end up with a final score of 222/6-over par.
Jack Tebeau also had a strong showing in his second collegiate tournament, tying for 24th at 76-77-76 = 229/13-over par.
Harrison Blech, meanwhile, tied for 28th at 80-77-73 = 230/14-over par.
Host Delaware won the 12-team event at 288-284-289 = 861/3-under par. Arsit Areephun took medalist honors for the Fightin' Blue Hens in the 69-man field with a final score of 68-69-72 = 209/7-under par.
Binghamton has a quick turnaround as the Bearcats next compete at Navy's invitational, called, "The Goat." It takes place from Saturday through Sunday at the Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md.
Matthews Auto is the presenting sponsor of Bearcats Golf.
